The race for the PDP nomination in Ondo’s gubernatorial election is intensifying, with frontline aspirant Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA) exuding confidence after meeting with party leaders in Okitipupa on Friday.
Akingboye, a longtime PDP stalwart, made his case for being the party’s standard bearer, stating he is best positioned to defeat the ruling APC by unifying the diverse factions. “OBA made useful contributions on how we can easily defeat the APC if we get the best candidate, one who is ready to work with all, and unify the party for effective governance,” he told party leaders.
The gubernatorial aspirant, known by his initials OBA, did not mince words in declaring himself as unifying personality. OBA also made it abundantly clear that he is that person who, by reason of consistency, commitment, zeal and ability, is the best among my able co-aspirants,” he stated.
OBA projected confidence that with the PDP nomination, victory in the general election is assured. He said he is willing, ready, able and available to carry the banner of the party aloft and be the flag bearer that will lead us to desired victory,” he proclaimed.
As PDP leaders weigh their options for the party’s gubernatorial aspirant, Akingboye is lobbying hard, touting his credentials as a unifying force who can rally all interests for an effective campaign against the incumbent APC governor.
With Akingboye emerging as an early frontrunner, the PDP nomination race is heating up ahead of Ondo’s high-stakes gubernatorial polls.
