Leading PDP gubernatorial aspirant, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA), has lamented the deplorable state of roads in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, vowing to reconstruct and interconnect them if elected governor.
During his visit to the LGA as part of his ongoing tour to engage party leaders and stakeholders ahead of the PDP primaries on April 25, 2024, Akingboye witnessed firsthand the extremely poor condition of the roads, which have alienated communities within the LGA from development and access to economically viable facilities.
Visibly displeased with the state of affairs in Ose LGA, OBA remarked, “With God’s endowment of rich forests, Ose should be the food basket of the nation if the government provides the necessary facilities and a conducive environment for agriculture, social, and economic activities.”
The Okitipupa-born billionaire expressed concern that the dilapidated roads in the Ose axis have made the area susceptible to kidnappings and other vices, as criminals can easily perpetrate their crimes due to the poor infrastructure.
Akingboye vowed to proffer solutions to these challenges and transform Ose LGA into a place of pride for all if elected as governor.
Addressing the gathering, OBA said, “I have been in this race for some time. As a businessman, I joined politics to turnaround things for the betterment of the nation. You should be wise this time around to choose the best candidate, as the delegates are the ones who will determine what happens in their local government with their votes. I have seen the state of your roads, and there will be a lot of changes.”
Encouraging the youth to give him a chance, Akingboye stated, “Test me for four years to see if you will witness changes or not, because I know I will make changes in the state. I’m here to beg you for your support.”
Ayemidotun Oladipupo, the party’s Public Relations Officer, thanked OBA for his visit and expressed appreciation for his identification of the road infrastructure as a key challenge.
Mr. Tola Falade and Hon. Sesere Ayoku called on Akingboye to restore peace to the PDP when he becomes governor, citing his reunification personality.
Hon. Joel Olorunsusi praised Akingboye’s humility and simplicity, adding that since the PDP lost the elections, suffering has become the order of the day in the state. “We have seen that he is ready to work, and he is generous to all,” Olorunsusi said.
Mrs. Olanike Jaiyeola commended Akingboye’s simplicity, which caught everyone’s attention, and urged him not to forget the women when he becomes governor.
The meeting was attended by Ondo North Senatorial Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Bobby Omotosho; Chairperson of Ose Local Government, Ahlaja F.F. Hameed; Mr. Thompson Ayegunle; Hon. Ruben Akintunde; Mr. Joel Olorunsusi; Chief Mayegun Ahmed; Mr. Tola Falade; Hon. Sesere Ayoku; former Local Government Chairman Hon.
