The vibrant political landscape of Ondo State witnessed a touching moment of unity today as Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, fondly called OBA, the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) gubernatorial flag-bearer, set aside campaign fervor to celebrate new life with one of his dedicated staff members.
Ibrahim Lawal, a loyal member of OBA’s team, welcomed his boss to the naming ceremony of his newborn daughter. The event, far from being a mere social call, transformed into a microcosm of the hope OBA represents for many in Ondo State.

The ceremony’s highlight was the naming of Lawal’s daughter. The child was christened Nabila Ajike Anuoluwapo Oluwadamilola Abolore Adefunke Omoyiwola – a name as expansive as the dreams her parents and well-wishers hold for her future.
Moved by the warmth of the gathering, OBA addressed the attendees with characteristic humility: “I am delighted to be here and I promise the people of Ondo State not to disappoint you when I get to the promise land, by His grace”. His words, simple yet powerful, resonated with the assembled crowd.
For Lawal, the day held double significance. Not only was he celebrating his daughter’s naming, but he was also hosting a man he believes will be the next governor of Ondo State. “I felt highly honoured to receive the incoming governor under my roof,” Lawal expressed, his pride evident.
